After being pestered by devils for more than half a year, Margery Kempe is liberated from her torment by a vision of Jesus Christ in purple robes. She eagerly tries to take on the role of prophet, but she is inexperienced and plagued with doubt (and more demons). Margery struggles to balance the two sides of herself - her life as a wife and mother, and her newfound religious fame. The lighting blends Margery's duality, transforming and fusing the normalcy of the 1401 English world with the dark fantasy of her visions and her nightmares.
